Hi, I'm Giuliane Sampaio (or just 'Giu', she - her), the same person behind Cabe Letra Aqui (‘Letters Fit Here’). I’m from Brazil, I graduated in Graphic Design (2014-2016), and lettering artist by passion, working in both for almost 8 years. I've been living in Porto🇵🇹 since 2018, and I'm currently studying for a master's degree in ︎Graphic Design and Editorial Projects, at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto.
My contact with the world of typography began in 2014, the same year I joined and actively participated (2014 - 2018) in the Brazilian collective ︎Tipografeed. Since then, the 'letters' have been present as 'art and craft' in my professional career. In addition to my designer background, my creative process takes advantage of the manual process with the mission of expressing authenticity in every project I realise. I try to explore a repertoire without borders, I like challenges, combining the techniques of calligraphy and lettering on a variety of surfaces/supports, whether by hand or digitally. But my greatest fascination to this day is being able to paint letters on a large scale.
In my work, the lettering stands out as a distinctive graphic resource in the projects I realise, whether in a commercial context (like Brand Identity, Brand Activation, Editorial Design, and others areas below) or in artistic interventions. ︎see tags
Complementary trainings also renewed my skills, and consequently, contact with other professionals who foster the typographic community made me discover the pleasure of sharing what I had learnt. I've done some lettering and introductory calligraphy workshops in Porto, as well as in Brazil. Alongside this, I also help organise practical meetings with other calligraphers, ︎'Dar à Letra', which is always open to the lettering community, whether they are beginners or professionals.

.Olá, sou a Giuliane Sampaio (ou simplesmente ‘Giu’), a mesma pessoa por detrás do ‘Cabe Letra Aqui’. Brasileira, designer gráfica (2014-2016) por formação, e artista de lettering por paixão, a trabalhar em ambos há quase 8 anos. Estou a residir no Porto-PT desde 2018, e no presente momento, a cursar o mestrado de ︎Design Gráfico e Projetos Editoriais, na Faculdade de Belas Artes, da Universidade do Porto.
O meu contacto com o universo das letras iniciou-se efetivamente em 2014, mesmo ano que passei a integrar e participar ativamente (2014 - 2018) do coletivo brasileiro ︎Tipografeed. Desde então, as letras estão presentes como ‘arte e ofício’ na minha trajetória profissional. Além do meu background de designer, o meu processo criativo faz o resgate do processo manual com a missão de manifestar autenticidade em cada projeto que realizo. Busco explorar um repertório sem fronteiras, gosto de desafios, combinar as técnicas de caligrafia e lettering em superfíceis/ suportes variados, seja à mão, ou digitalmente, sendo o meu maior fascínio: pintar letras em grande escala.
No meu trabalho as letras destacam-se como um recurso gráfico diferenciado nos projetos que realizo, sejam esses no contexto comercial (como identidade visual, ativação de marca, design editorial, logo design, identidade gráfica para exposição, brochuras/ impressos, lettering para vitrine, customização de itens/ presentes, lettering para tattoo, entre outros) ou no segmento de intervenções artísticas. ︎(ver tags)
As formações complementares também renovam meus skills, e consequentemente, o contacto com outros profissionais que fomentam a comunidade tipográfica, fizeram-me descobrir o gosto em partilhar o que aprendi. Assim como no Brasil, também fiz alguns workshops de lettering e de introdução à caligrafia no Porto. Paralelo a isso, também ajudo a organizar encontros práticos juntamente com outros calígrafos, o ︎ ‘Dar à Letra’, aberto a toda comunidade de ‘letristas’, sejam iniciantes ou profissionais. .
